WORK  –  UX  –  NEBENAN

* NEBENAN

team mode, uni project, 2025

The neighborhood app Nebenan aims at connecting residents and strengthening local communities. However, both personal experience and user surveys revealed major usability issues: lack of structure, no filtering or categorization, overwhelming content flow, and an outdated, unintuitive interface.

To address these problems, a complete redesign was developed by me and a fellow student. We introduced a 24-hour post option for timely content and a customizable feed with filters and clearer post categories. An interactive neighborhood map shows active users and lets residents expand their neighborhood. With a more playful design, we also aimed to attract a younger target audience.
A Dark Mode was also introduced to enhance user comfort. To demonstrate the redesign and key user flows, an interactive prototype was created in Figma, with the graphics designed in Illustrator. This work was carried out as part of the User Experience module in the third semester.
